# Using the legacy version of Camera FV-5
Camera FV-5 version 5 is a considerable departure from the previous version 3 (we didn't skip a version number for nothing). While the new app is a superset of the older, and better in all ways, if you prefer to use the older version of the app for any reason, you still can. Technically, when you receive the update for version 5 (or newer), the older app was uninstalled and the newer installed on top. However, for the foreseable future, Camera FV-5 version 5 ships with a copy of the older app inside. This copy is not enabled by default, but you can do it in the settings.
To enable the older version of the app and add a shortcut to it to your app launcher:
- Open the app settings ( icon with the cog).
- On the first tab that opens, on the bottom of the list, enable the option Show legacy app icon on the app launcher. If you don't see this option, read below.
- Now, on the list of apps, you will see an icon for Camera FV-5 3.0 next to the Camera FV-5 app (the newer one). You can use both apps side-by-side. Both version of the app act like separate entities, therefore settings are not shared between them.
The older app is not showing on the app's list?
This might happen with some launchers (the app that manages your device's desktop and list of apps). On those cases, the app usually appears after some time, if this doesn't happen, restarting the device will do the trick.
Is the option to show legacy app icon on the app launcher not available?
If the option Show legacy app icon on the app launcher is not on the bottom of the aforementioned list, it means that you uninstalled and reinstalled Camera FV-5 at least one after the update to version 5 or newer. The option is only shown to users that upgraded from version 3 or older. However, there is a trick to enable the option nonetheless: tap 11 times on the option Maximize screen brightness found on the same page, and then the option to add the app to the app launcher will be shown.
